It is time, once again,
for our Christmas Project!!! We always do something special for a family,
or a group of people that are less fortunate than we are. Last year, we had
such an amazing experience at the Waco Center for Youth, that we decided to
repeat this project and adopt a house of boys again this year. Anita and
Phil Landers and Pat Baucom are spearheading the project for us this year.
We have been assigned the
same house again this year. We will have 7 boys in the house. All are
between the ages of 13 - 15 and all are troubled and/or emotionally
disturbed at some level. Syzygy, Anita's place of employment , will be
donating $200 toward our project. We need each of you to dig down deep into
your pockets, be generous, and help support this most worthwhile endeavor.
We are asking for cash donations so that we can go shopping for the boys,
order the pizza and buy the ice cream, etc. Each boy has provided us with
a wish list.
We will be providing each of
the boys a gift or 2 each as well as providing a party for them. On Monday,
December 11th, at 6:00 - 8-00, we will have a pizza party for them,
entertain them for a short while and give them their gifts. It is an amazing
experience to participate in this and see the excitement on their faces.
Any of you that can spare the time, should come to the house at the Waco
Center for Youth and be a part of that night.
Any money donations can
be brought to the Christmas Party on December 2nd, or if that is not
convenient, you may drop off your donation at Don Barrett's place of
business on Sanger across from Dicorte's liquor.
We know that this is the
season that lots of people and organizations are asking you to be generous
and give of yourselves. Our dive club has always been so amazingly generous
and supported all of our previous projects. I know this year will be no
different and that each of you will give something to support this most
worthwhile project.
We will be meeting at
the HEB on North 19th St. at 5:45 on the 11th to caravan the short distance
from the HEB to the house at Waco Center for Youth.
